Alaskan Trivia:
January 1947 Headline: First to Conquer Two Glacial Peaks Three experienced mountain climbers lead by Fred Beckey of Seattle climbed the 10,002 foot Kate’s Needle and the 9,077 foot Devil’s Thumb last August. Both Peak’s summits located near Petersburg mark the international border between Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. The only other exploration in the area was done during the 1907 survey by the International Boundary Commission.
