Alaskan Trivia:
Alaskans are frequently treated to the sights of the Northern Lights. Northern lights or Aurora Borealis are seen mostly in the fall, winter and spring. Northern lights can be incredibly bright, multi-hued and fast moving. Tall green curtains of light stretching from horizon to horizon are often seen. They ripple and sway, fold and unfold, then suddenly disappear, only to reform in a new shape minutes later. During the winter of of 1990 the city of Ketchikan was treated to a display of northern Lights that were a bright blood red. The city fire department received several call from folks who thought that the red was from a massive forest fire just over the horizon.
